Namibia, named after the Namib Desert, is known for its contrasting
landscapes and striking diversity of cultures. It is the second
most sparsely populated country in the world, and the desolate Namib
Desert is said to be the oldest in the world, with its stunningly
beautiful dunes and landscapes. Namibia is a photographer’s
dream. It has rugged mountains, wild coast, amazing wildlife, stark
deserts and fascinating tribes. On this short lodge-based tour,
we explore Etosha National Park with its abundance of wildlife and
flood lit waterholes perfect for game viewing, and roam the desert
plains and dune fields of the Namib Naukluft Park. We visit a Refuge
and Rehabilitation Centre, and spend time in the coastal town of
Swakopmund.
Glimpse of Namibia Safari Detailed Itinerary
| Day 1: |
Windhoek - Lodge |
Lodge |
Dinner |
You are collected from the airport on arrival and
transferred to the Lodge where you will stay overnight in
beautiful thatch bungalows with en-suite facilities.
This afternoon you will have the opportunity to join the afternoon
feeding tour of the large predators that are unable to be
re-located back into the wild, learn more about these fascinating
animals and photographic opportunities are excellent. You
can then enjoy a champagne sundowner before returning to the
lodge for dinner. Your stay here supports the project and
helps with the costs of keeping these majestic animals alive.

Etosha National Park |
Camping |
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
After breakfast this morning you are transferred
to Windhoek where you will meet with your guide and begin
the journey north to the mighty Etosha National Park. We stop
briefly at Otjiwarongo where we can enjoy a picnic lunch before
arriving at Andersson’s Gate early afternoon and game
driving through to camp. This evening we can enjoy dinner
in the restaurant before heading to the floodlit waterhole
where you can relax and watch the animals come to drink. Overnight
in double chalets with en-suite bathrooms. |
| Day 3: |
Etosha National Park |
Camping |
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
This morning we enjoy a quick breakfast before
heading out for a full day game driving. We visit many waterholes
and drive half way across the park in our quest to find the
Big 4 as well as all the plains game arriving at Halali for
a rest during the hottest part of the day. Here your guide
will prepare you a delicious lunch whilst you have a dip in
the pool or relax by the camp waterhole.
Continuing after lunch you will visit the mighty Etosha Pan
and have the experience of walking on the pan to feel the
immenseness of this 4500 sq km saltpan (seasonal). We will
then continue back calling into some well-known waterholes
and return to our lodge prior to sunset. Dinner is in the
restaurant and an early night is recommended.

| Day 4: |
Swakopmund |
Guesthouse |
Breakfast, Lunch |
Early morning game drive looking for predators
as well as plains game and the many bird species found inside
this incredible world-renowned park before exiting the park
and beginning the drive through to Swakopmund.
En-route we will enjoy a picnic lunch, arriving in the quaint
town of Swakopmund mid/late afternoon. On arrival we can check
into our guesthouse before exploring Swakopmund. Overnight

tonight in one of the many restaurants.

| Day 5: |
Namib Naukluft National Park |
Lodge |
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
A leisurely morning where you can relax, wander
into town for some shopping or join any optional activities
such as a dolphin cruise or scenic flight before departing
for the desert.
Our drive today takes us to the port town of Walvis Bay where
we will make a stop at the lagoon for lunch giving us a chance
to do some birding. Here, pelicans, avocets, and flamingo
are a common sight. We then depart and head across the desert
into the Namib Naukluft National Park. On arrival at the Lodge
we have ample time to relax, take a swim or enjoy the amazing
views that this lodge has to offer. The most unique feature
of this lodge is it’s location inside the national park,
which enables us unlimited access to the mighty sand dunes
of the Namib. Should we wish, we can opt to head into the
dunes for sunset or the moon rise, or choose to relax at the
lodge and enjoy a sundowner. Dinner tonight is in the restaurant
and an early night is recommended.
|
| Day 6: |
Sossusvlei |
Lodge |
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
Pre-dawn departure this morning to ensure that
we have the opportunity to view this stunning area at its
best. We drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering
dunes to the 2x4 parking (around 55kms) and take a 4x4 drive
into the Sossusvlei area to appreciate the beauty of this
place in the early morning light and enjoy the peace and tranquility
of the region. We explore this unique area on foot before
heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached
cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with
a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colours.
A picnic breakfast will keep our energy levels up until we
return to the lodge for lunch.
As we drive back we will stop at the famous Dune 45 and climb
this dune if we wish or just wander around the base. We return
to our lodge where we can relax, go back to bed, or take a
swim before lunch.
After lunch is some time for ourselves. You may choose to
relax around the lodge, or take a walk in the area.
Late afternoon we will visit the nearby Sesriem Canyon. This
small, but important canyon, has been one of the few sources
of permanent water in the area for hundreds of years and has
sustained the local human and animals populations. We can
then return to the lodge for a sundowner drink, before a sumptuous
dinner in the restaurant
|
| Day 7: |
Windhoek |
|
Breakfast, Lunch |
After a leisurely breakfast we return to Windhoek
via Bullsport and Rehoboth. Our drive past the Naukluft Mountains
is an ideal setting for a light picnic lunch before arriving
in Windhoek early/mid afternoon where you will be transferred
to the airport in time for your onward flight.
Please ensure that you do not book a flight out from Windhoek
today unless it is a night departure. We are due to arrive
back into Windhoek around 3pm, but please allow for unforseen
delays. Post tour accommodation can be booked if required.
