Desert Dunes and Wildlife Luxury Safari Detailed Itinerary
| Day 1: |
Windhoek - Erindi |
Lodge |
Lunch, Dinner |
This morning pickup is from your accommodation
establishment at 8h00 (8h30 in summer). Driving north we head
towards the Erongo region arriving at Erindi mid morning.
The reserve is set on 71 000 ha of pristine wilderness with
varied landscape in a malaria free area, from mountains to
savanna to open grasslands right in the heart of Namibia.
The private reserve is teeming with game including predators
such as lion, leopard, cheetah as well as some more unusual
species not often found in central Namibia such as hippos,
crocodiles, and wild dog. Upon arrival at the lodge, we can
settle into our rooms, relax at the waterhole or pool until
lunch. Late afternoon we will then have the opportunity to
explore the area while on a guided game drive. The game drive
enables us to interact with your guide and learn as much as
possible about this unique game reserve and the animals and
plants that you find. On return dinner will be served in the
restaurant where we can watch the nocturnal game, such as
rhino, aardvark and many plains antelope come to the waterhole
to quench their thirst.
|
| Day 2: |
Amani Lodge |
Lodge |
Breakfast, Dinner |
This morning we are up early for our morning
tea/coffee before heading out for our morning game drive which
allows us to see Erindi in a slightly different light. Species
to look for this morning include cheetah, wild dog, honey
badger and plains antelope. Returning to the lodge for brunch
we can then relax by the waterhole or the pool until we depart
for our return journey towards Windhoek and on to Amani Lodge
where we will join the Big Cat Experience. Amani Lodge works
together with the Cheetah Conservation Fund to protect Namibia’s
big cats, and here you will get the opportunity to learn more
about these fascinating animals as well as to take some amazing
photos. Overnight in twin share bungalows with views over
the valley. Dinner is in the restaurant. |
| Day 3: |
Sossusvlei |
Bungalows |
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
This morning we depart Amani after breakfast
around 8h30 and drive via one of the many scenic routes where
we will have the option to stop, enjoy a picnic lunch and
relax while taking in the surrounding views before descending
onto the desert floor. We arrive at the our lodge mid afternoon,
you have a chance to relax or to wonder around the lodge or
take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool whilst enjoying
the views within the park. We then have the option to visit
the nearby Sesriem Canyon. While the canyon is considerably
smaller than the mighty Fish River Canyon, its’ significance
to the surrounding area is huge. As one of the few sources
of permanent water in the desert area, its’ mere existence
has sustained both animal and human life over hundreds of
years. We return to the lodge where you may like to take a
walk or relax before witnessing one of the most spectacular
sunsets over the desert you will ever see. A sumptuous dinner
in the lodge before retiring to our luxurious bungalows for
the night.
* Once a month a special full moon departure will be run,
enabling you to have an evening guided tour of Sossusvlei
to watch the sunset over the dunes and the subsequent full
moon rise. A very unique opportunity. |
| Day 4: |
Windhoek |
|
Breakfast, Lunch |
We depart the lodge early this morning for
our guided excursion into the breath taking area of Sossusvlei.
With an early morning excursion we are truly able to experience
the natural beauty of this area as the first light casts dramatic
shadows across the dunes. We then experience this area on
foot heading to Deadvlei where we appreciate the large expanse
of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting
with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colours.
On our way back to the lodge we visit the famous dune 45,
we can either climb it or we can wonder around its base. We
will enjoy lunch packs en-route back to Windhoek arriving
late afternoon where you will be dropped at your accommodation. |
